Tyshena “Ty” White

Tyshena “Ty” White is a California native who was born in Compton, California, and raised in Orange County, California. She is currently based in Riverdale, Georgia, where she is pursuing her goal of becoming a Clinical Mental Health Counselor. Tyshena is a dedicated mother to her seven-year-old daughter, Keilahni, and enjoys hiking, camping, horseback riding, taekwondo, tennis, and spending quality time with her daughter.

Tyshena is a first-generation college graduate who was the first person in her immediate family to graduate from high school, community college, and a university. Her educational journey has been an important part of her personal growth and has strengthened her determination to create a meaningful career centered around helping others.

Tyshena began her career as a Medical Assistant in California in 2016. She has now accumulated ten years of experience in the medical field and has had the opportunity to work with children, adolescents, adults, and older adults. Throughout her career, she has developed a strong passion for providing compassionate, patient-centered care while recognizing the importance of treating each individual with dignity, patience, and understanding.

Her professional experience includes working with verbal and nonverbal children and adults with autism. In these roles, Tyshena followed individualized behavioral and educational plans, utilized visual schedules, assisted with self-care activities, and incorporated positive reinforcement to encourage independence and personal development. She has also gained experience working with adults and older adults experiencing mental health concerns, which has further influenced her desire to pursue a career in mental health counseling.

Tyshena currently works as a Care Promoter/Medical Assistant at JenCare Senior Medical Center in East Point, Georgia. Through her work with patients, she has developed strong communication, listening, and interpersonal skills. She strives to create an environment where patients feel heard, respected, supported, and cared for. Whether she is providing medical assistance or simply listening to a patient who needs encouragement, Tyshena believes that compassion and understanding can have a meaningful impact on a person's overall well-being.

In March 2026, Tyshena participated in a four-day company trip to Nicaragua. This experience allowed her to learn about different cultures, gain new perspectives, and expand her understanding of how cultural differences can influence the way people experience healthcare and interact with others. The experience encouraged her to continue developing her ability to think from different perspectives and strengthened her commitment to providing culturally responsive care.

As Tyshena continues her graduate education in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, she is building upon the knowledge and skills she has gained throughout her medical career. Her experiences working with individuals across different age groups, backgrounds, abilities, and life circumstances have helped her recognize the importance of creating a safe and supportive environment where people can openly express themselves.

Tyshena believes that everyone deserves to have someone who will listen without judgment, provide encouragement, and help them recognize their own strengths and potential. Her personal experiences, educational accomplishments, and professional background have shaped her into someone who values resilience, compassion, cultural awareness, and lifelong growth.

Ultimately, Tyshena’s goal is to use her experiences in healthcare and counseling to support individuals through their own challenges and life transitions. She is determined to become a Clinical Mental Health Counselor who provides a safe space for people from all walks of life to feel heard, understood, empowered, and supported as they work toward becoming the best version of themselves.
